HelloMelo is a young Detroit Based Artist as charismatic as his name. Melo was born in Detroit in 1990, and is viewed as an integral part of the Graffiti Movement in Art. He has studied formally at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, concentrating in the field of painting. HelloMelo has produced work for many solo, selected group, public, and video showcases, where a great range of skill and humor is within his work. He inspires audiences in many cities and countries as well as students with whom he shares his craft.
Statement:
Defining myself as an artist and what I create is connected to the “Rogue” and “Risky” behaviors I feel destined to be a part of. As a child, I was captivated by the colorful graffiti and allure of the unknown. I desired to claim Detroit with skill and precision changing styles, materials, always pushing my art to the next level. I enjoy portraying characters with a deep sense of reality, conflicted with a free-flowing, heavily contrasted, intense, and colorful vibe that every person can connect with. Many people talk about life and struggles that happen in the ordinary every day goings on. I try to emulate my feelings concerning society and norms, my world, the connections we have with our man-made world versus the natural world and how we imprint ourselves in it. “You make your own mark on society; let it be your best.”
